Baby G’s birth goes down in history as the first local birth I have ever missed! I got the message around 9am that after 42 weeks of waiting, Kayla was in labor. Knowing I was only about 10 minutes away, I started gathering my things and preparing for the next message, which would inevitably be, “It’s time for you to come.” As I was chatting with Kayla’s doula, Jessica Moore, I received a message that Kayla’s water had broken. With this being her 4th baby and her being 42 weeks I assumed she was progressing very quickly. I jumped in my car and took off! Not 5 minutes down the road I get the message, “She’s here!” WOW! Not only did I miss the birth by about 3 minutes, so did her doula, and almost her husband. Baby G may have wanted to stay in until 42 weeks, but once she decided it was time, she wasn’t playing around! Turns out Kayla delivered her 9 lb daughter on her hands and knees on the floor of her bedroom with the tub sitting by waiting to be filled. Her birth was fast, but absolutely perfect. Gorgeous, healthy, and very happy baby and mommy. Thankfully I arrived with plenty of time to see each of her 3 siblings meet her for the first time, and many excited family members that stopped by to celebrate with them. It was a truly joyful and exciting birth!
